Corsica Holidays

Corsica has recently received one of the most dramatic booms in tourism! As the first ever package holiday destination it was often thought that it would be on a similar level to the familiar climes of Spain, Greece and Cyprus... Yet it has remained the unspoilt, lush, mountain in the sea that it is. Located in the Mediterranean Sea, next to Sardinia and just a short distance from the coasts of France and Italy. Having been part of the Italian empire the island now resides as part of France! Boasting some of the most dynamic and spectacular scenery in the world – definitely the best of the Med. Spectacular beaches can be found in both the north and the south of the island as well as some of the most enchanting towns and cities you will ever visit. A cheap holiday to Corsica is an absolute must. As the UKs closest run to the sun island, holidays are great for families looking for hot temperatures, beautiful beaches and plenty to do – this "big" island really does have it all. >>>>>>> .r14756

Over the years Corsica has become very different as you travel from the north to the south. With Bastia the capital in the north and Ajaccio the capital in the south. These are also the two main international airports and are serviced by budget, low cost and scheduled airlines! At an hour and a half flying time away from the UK, there really is no excuse not to visit the Island of Corsica. If on holiday in the north of the Island the beach resort of Saint Florent is to die for. With some of the best beaches in the whole of France and absolutely teaming with things to do! Check out the quaint old style hotels as well as the newly built palaces. The old town will spoil you for choice when it comes to food and the charming locals are always keen to get people into the sunshine spirit! Visits and holidays to Bastia are always popular – this small French city has everything you could ask for and a great range of bars, restaurants and even discount shopping. Be sure to sample Corsica Cola on the island as well as the huge range of great cuisines available – all the best of French and Italian altered to perfection. Wild boar is also very popular on the island! The East coast of Corsica is great for diving opportunities and perfect for water sports! The small town of Moriani has some of the best beaches in the north of the island and world war two ship wrecks ´ just off the coast – perfect for divers to explore. A couple of hours drive will take you to the more commercial, yet equally fabulous south of the Island!

Porto Vecchio is the home to the rich and famous of the island, millionaires row lines the beach front in some areas, and the spectacular array of gin palaces in the marina are sure to make anyone jealous. With a huge variety of shops, history and even more bars and restaurants there really is no need to venture anywhere else! The most impressive place on the whole of the island is however the ancient town of Bonifacio. With the old town still remaining within city walls and a quaint tram to take you around. For those really looking for a holiday with a difference the ferries to Sardinia leave from here too! The fabulous citadel is just one of the fabulous landmarks here that will take you´re breath away. Being an island steeped in culture and history, landmarks are just around every corner. And the evidence of Italian rule is just an apparent as that of the French! Corsica thrives on being at one with the great outdoors, adventures are the norm here and you can find yourself swinging from the trees, swimming in waterfalls and climbing over canyons! Sun bathing is also a popular past time though – be sure to visit the world favourite beach Palombaggia.
