Holiday Accommodation

Types of holiday accommodation differ all over the world but generally following the same pattern. Differentiated by stars and board basis´. Five star resorts are the best and generally the most expensive. Except in some cases when hotels can be awarded up to seven stars! Whilst on holiday you can generally choose to stay in a hotel, apartment block, apartments, villas or houses. With other options like hostels, camping and caravans too. Hotels offer a range of different board basis´ too. Within the same hotel you can also choose different board basis´!

In the larger hotels that are generally found in beach resorts like the Spanish Costas, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Naples, Capri, Greece, Turkey and parts of France, as well as Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Goa and the Indian Ocean you will find anything from bed and breakfast, half board, full board and all inclusives. City hotels it is more common place to find room only or bed and breakfasts.

An all inclusive basis allows you to have an almost cash free holiday. Some guests choose never to leave the hotel! Having pre–paid for all your meals, extra snacks, drinks and sports facilities. Child care and other entertainments are also included in this. However some facilities are free at the discretion of the hotel and extra drinks and snacks may only be free at certain times or even have to be paid for. All inclusive packages vary on whether they are ultra, classic, standard or light. Full board holidays include your three daily meals and occasional your drinks with meals. Whilst bed and breakfast and room only basis´ do exactly as they say on the tin. Half board means you have breakfast and then lunch or dinner. Many hotels offer breakfast and dinners as they can sell lunch at their own beach bars.

Most hotels and even some apartments are booked under a package basis, this can remove the stresses and strains of booking your own flights and finding transfers. With hotels having their own onsight facilities like spas, swimming pools, water sports and sports facilities as well as tuition, kids clubs, playgrounds, bars and restaurants and onsite staff for any problems they are often favoured. They are located mainly in main towns, unlike villas which can be off the beaten track. Hotels lie close to local amenities and places to visit. Many are along the beach front as well, adding to the touch of luxury.

If you choose to stay in a holiday village you can be booked on a board basis or self catering. This gives you the best of both worlds as you have the freedom of a self catering holiday but with all the facilities of a hotel! This is always very popular with families as they have endless sporting facilities, spas, restaurants, bars and kids clubs! Self catering holidays in villas, houses and apartments give you the sometimes favoured chance to create a home from home! Most holiday villas are built in the style of the country they are in. The Mediterranean is filled with stylish white washed villas whilst the Caribbean and Florida have more modern looking houses! Many villas even have their own private pools and some have their own tennis courts! When booking a villa you often buy the villa for your holiday rather than pay per person so this can work out a lot cheaper than staying in a hotel. Otherwise as the number of people staying in the villa goes up the price per person goes down, generally still making it cheaper than staying in a hotel. For those really stepping out into the wild camping, hostels and other cheaper options are available in most big resorts to. Going back to basics lowers the price and in cases can enhance the holiday experience. Taking you back to nature and into the local lifestyles to, Eco Tourism is very popular at the moment!
