Writing about every holiday destination in the world would be impossible. With seven continents and countries within them as well it is much appreciated that there are far too many to mention! For Brits the main holidays taken are greatly to continental Europe and Northern America. The sunny shores of Spain and fun filled Florida being the most popular. Some people venture out to the climes of Africa, Asia and Australasia to. With the Arctic easily reached via Scandinavia it is regularly visited yet Antarctica rarely gets a look in. Being so far away and generally more expensive!
The continent of Europe is the most dynamic on the planet. Boasting about 50 countries, all with their own unique characters and cultures. Lifestyles and languages completely change within a matter of miles. For us Brits summer holidays always used to be vastly restricted to these familiar destinations. A two week trip to a full board hotel in the Spanish Costas was a yearly event. A yearly ski trip to the Alps was a high–light for the lucky view and maybe a city break to Paris in the mean time. In the past few decades however, with the introduction of package holidays, low cost airlines and the general loss of worry and snobbishness to other cultures, the Brits are adventuring! Top holiday destinations in Europe still remain as the chic resorts of Spain, in the Costas, The Balearic Islands and the Canaries. As well as the traditional realms of Portugal, Italy, France and Greece. With the "newer" countries of the continent become firm favourites in the British summer holiday industry. Many Brits will now take a summer holiday in the better value for money resorts of Bulgaria and Croatia. For city breaks the usual stagnant cities of Western Europe are being overridden by the hip, youthful cities of the Baltic States, Poland and Russia. Yet Stockholm, London, Paris, Rome and the gems of Spain will always remain popular. For skiing the slopes of Bulgaria and even Cyprus! Are rivalling those of the French, Austrian and Italian Alps.
The best kept secrets of the Caribbean have also recently been opened. Jamaica, Cuba, Barbados and the Dominican will always remain popular yet the smaller, more remote and unspoilt islands of Tobago, St Lucia and St Kitts are definitely becoming great hits. With much of South America also opened up to package holidays, making it cheaper for eager Brits to travel here on holiday. Mexico and Brazil are proving to be full of excitment, tasty dishes and great historical sights, not to mention the great shopping and outstanding beaches. North America has always been a favourite place to go, entertaining Florida, cool California and the ever wonderful New York. Skiing has also become a hit, with emptier pistes than those of Europe, fast efficient lifts and great aprés–ski opportunities. The Southern states of the USA as well as many other cities like Boston, Las Vegas, Chicago and the countries amazing national marks like Yellow Stone and Yosemite are great places to visit to!
South Africa, jungle tours and the North African countries of Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt have allowed African travel to really boom! The exciting cultures, deep history and lovable cities have allowed for wonderful holidays. Gorgeous beaches and top amenities have been drawing in Brits for the last decade in their thousands. The Maldives, Dubai, Mauritius and especially Thailand have become great places for couples and families. Falling at the more expensive end of the market but utterly worth every penny. Holidays of a lifetime with everything you can imagine and much, much more. Without forgetting Austrailia and New Zealand, the home of neighbours, home and away, kath and kim as well as Sydney, Perth, Cambera, Caines and the famous great barrier reef. New Zealand hosts the famous adventure holidays along with the fabulous set of Lord of the rings and wildlife that just cannot be missed!
