Holiday Resorts
Holiday resorts come in all shapes and sizes but are basically a great place to relax, recuperate and enjoy your surroundings. Resorts are known as places, towns or often a hotel complex as well. The idea is that a resort is self contained whether it be a town or hotel compound. Some popular resort towns include Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt, Magaluf in Majorca and Zermatt in Switzerland. Hotels that are known as resorts often have a wide range of accommodation with different board basis´ as well as a large amount of sports facilities, restaurants, bars and shops. Some hotel resorts even have their own spas and golf courses. An example of this type of resort in the Mount Irvine hotel and golf resort in Tobago. Club hotels and holiday villages can often be called a resort as they are self contained. The Mark Warner hotel, San Agostino in Greece is one of these as well as the First Choice and Thomson holiday villages. Holiday capms may also fall under the description of being a resort. All inclusive resorts are very common at the moment in sunny locations like the Caribbean, Central America and Bulgaria. As well as Sharm el Sheikh, the Maldives and Goa.
Most resort towns only form of economy is tourism, therefore they almost become Ghost towns when they are out of season. They also have less character than other towns are were built up over a short period of time. Beach resorts and ski resorts often fall into this category. Holiday makers generally visit nearby cities for culture. If you are on holiday in Salou, excursions to Barcelona are always popular. However when you imagine a beach resort and all that they should have the typical resort never fails. Located around the beaches, sunbathing and eating are the main past times. There are always a wide Varity of water sports, bars, restaurants, things to do and big nightlife. If you´re after a peaceful beach resort however there are plenty of them too. Beach resorts are located all over the planet, from the very big in Florida, Mexico and the Caribbean, to the smaller resorts of Greece. Brits always head to the summer resorts of Spain year after year, the Spanish Costas and the Balearic Islands have been popular for years. Bulgaria, Turkey and Croatia also have a string of beach resorts now too. Beach resorts have become the ideal family holiday destination. Many beach resorts are also clubbers paradise, the trendy San Antonio in Ibiza as well as Malia, Ayia Napa and Laganas! Health resorts are also rising in popularity, yoga resorts and weight loss resorts are becoming regularly visited!
