Kuoni Travel LTD is Switzerland’s largest holiday company and the world’s most successful specialist tour operator. A well known and favourite company in the UK, Kuoni was first founded in 1906 by Alfred Kuoni who was born in Switzerland, he later spent a few years working abroad and really caught the travel bug. Upon his return to Switzerland his company was created as a sister company to his brothers’ freight forwarding agency in Zurich. It then grew to become a leader in the long-haul holidays industry, employing over 7,500 staff. Kuoni then expanded in 2006, acquiring Journeys of Distinction and Kirker Holidays. In 2008 another Swiss Company joined Kuoni opening up holidays to the Eastern European hotspots of Slovenia, Croatia and Montenegro.
