Sardinia, the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, neighbour to the French Corsica! The nature reserves and natural parks on the island are of particular beauty – you might even get to see a Sardinian deer or wild boar in the Monte Arcosu or Maidopis parks. At Sassari, the second biggest town in Sardinia, you can see the eighteenth century Ducal Palace – the church of Santa Maria di Bčtlem, and Cathedral of St. Nicholas! For an unspoilt Mediterranean island, yet with plenty to do – Sardinia is definitely a top candidate! The unspoilt area of Chia in the southwest of the island is a really popular destination – oozing exclusivity as well as great amenities. Snorkelling, diving and water sports can be had all over the island, as well as sports on dryland including mountain biking, golf, tennis and horse riding. Other great resorts on the island include Villasimius, a lively resort close to a marine park with spectacular beaches and almond groves. Santa Margherita di Pula is close to the ancient Roman site of Nora and has several good beaches, and Alghero is known for its Catalan style architecture and good shopping.
