Switzerland Holidays

Holidays to Switzerland have been popular for decades amongst winter sports lovers and summer walkers.

It is only in recent years that the idea of city breaks have become popular too. As one of the most dynamic countries in the world, Switzerland really has to be explored... and as the country boasts one of the best and most reliable transport systems in the world, the whole country can be seen easily and relatively cheaply! Varying greatly from tip to toe yet always exerting its friendly, humanitarian nature, whether you're skiing in the Alps or taking in some exciting watersports on the countries lakes, good times are a must and fun is always had. Greatly influenced by its neighbours, the swiss culture is an irresistible mix of Germanic, French, Italian, Austrian and Liechtensteiner life styles.

The difference in the cultural flavours is obvious when it comes to food, drink and past times. When it comes to proud countries, Switzerland really tops the list, utterly justified however, this country really has something to shout about. The countries two main cities, Geneva and Zurich holding the award for having the highest quality of life in the world and the lively ski resorts of the alps - Zermatt, Verbier and Saas Fee are some of the worlds favourites! Enjoying a temperate climate of winter snowfall in the mountains and warm summers, this enriched country really is worth visiting. For city breaks Zurich is great, yet the real gem is the countries second largest city Geneva.

As one of the most historical cities in the western world mixed with the fabulous cosmopolitan vibe it exudes, holidays here are amazing. Famed for its shops - in particular fabulous speciality watch shops. Or if you would rather look and not buy a visit to the watch and clock museums must be had. The city is bursting with museums, cultural events and fine bars and the tastiest of eateries. These can all be easily found whilst meandering along the cobbled streets of the old town, when the bustle becomes too much for you take a pit stop on the banks of Lake Geneva. Here you can see the Jet d´Eau in full view, one of the largest fountains in the world where Lake Geneva merges with the River Rhone. Reaching an altitude of 140 metres this lit up fountain is spectacular!

Switzerland boasts a wealth of hotels and some of the most desirable apartments and chalets, so if it´s a cheap holiday, city break or an adventure holiday in the alps, Fleetway travel can book you a holiday at low prices, with plenty of last minute deals and early bird discounts!
