Tourism in Egypt has been popular for centuries. People originally travelled to Egypt to see the many landmarks of the Ancient Egyptian cultures. Luxor was regularly visited and a popular stop over for those on Nile cruises. In 2007 however tourism in Egypt dramatically rose by 20 percent. This is largely due to the development of Egypt´s best kept secret. The Red Sea coastlines popular resorts of Sharm el Sheikh, Hurghada and El Gouna fast became cheap holiday hotspots. Now, as many if not more people visit Egypt for its great diving opportunities and year round sun as they do for the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx. A perfect holiday choice is to take a two centre holiday to this great country. Visiting one of the ancient cities as well as taking a beach holiday in the Red Sea Riviera.
