Toulon is located in the South of France along the Mediterranean coastline. The capital of the Var department and a large military base. There is now a beautiful memorial and museum open in Toulon devoted to those who fought for the area in the Second World War – well worth a visit when on holiday to this historical city. Toulon is now an important city of naval construction, wine, fishing and manufacture of aeronautical equipment. It is also a great starting off point for exploring the rest of the province, St Tropez, Nice, Marseille, Cannes, Casis and Monaco are all just a stones throw away!

The Cathedrale St Marie Major, built in Romanesque style is fascinating.

Toulon is also an unknown beach paradise, the shores of Mourillon are a definite favourite for tourists and locals alike.
