Corfu
Corfu is a Greek island which lies in the Ionian Sea, just three km off the coast of Albania. If you're looking for the perfect spot for a summer holiday or seaside vacation it offers beautiful beaches, great weather, a fascinating history, cheap flights, and a wide range of travel deals to suit every budget.
Known as the '‘Emerald Island' due to its lush green countryside, Corfu has long been one of Greece's most popular holiday destinations. Whether you want a peaceful escape to a romantic bay such as Kalami, or a family holiday with safe beaches in a lively resort like Sidari or Roda, we can help you find your ideal vacation. Corfu also offers a wide range of activity holidays, from scuba diving in the clear waters of the Ionian Sea, to riding or walking through the olive groves.
The island's main town is also called Corfu and offers a good range of activities, from music and dance performances to shopping and eating out. Many of the hotels in Corfu are situated close to the Corfu town or the coastal resorts, and you can make hotel reservations online with Fleetway Travel. However, there are still plenty of sleepy coastal villages where you can rent a villa or village house for a more peaceful setting.
Whilst Corfu offers some fabulous luxury breaks, such as holidays at the five star Corfu Palace Hotel in the old town, there are cheaper travel options too. You can find these on travel sites and it's easy to book a hotel online. Arranging flights to Corfu is straightforward. Scheduled flights are available from the UK to Corfu and once you arrive you might like to try a seaplane flight from Corfu to Paxoi, Ioannina, or Patras.
Holidays to Corfu - Beaches
Corfu's most famous beach is Canal D'Amour (the 'Channel of Love') at Sidari, situated on Corfu's north western coastline, some twenty miles from the old town. Sidari offers sandy beaches and pretty coves around a sweeping bay. The sea is good for children as it's shallow and calm, but for also great for swimmers and active holidaymakers, due to the range of watersports available at the beach, including windsurfing and waterskiing.
Another favourite resort is Roda, which is situated on the north coast of Corfu, Greece. Roda is around 35km from Corfu town and is perfectly located on the quiet coast between Sidari and Acharavi. Roda offers safe, sandy beaches, seaside taverns, car hire, shopping and a range of accommodation. Watersports are available from the beach and horse riding can be undertaken nearby.
While visiting Corfu's beaches consider taking a trip along the coast in one of the glass bottomed boats. You can arrange boat trips from the beach, at either Arillas or Sidari, to nearby islands such as Mathraki and Ericussa (sometimes written as 'Ericousa'), as well as longer trips to Paxos, Kefalonia, and even Albania from Arillas. Some of these trips can be booked through travel websites before you arrive at Corfu.
