Holidays to the Calabria coastline

The Calabria coastline is located in the region of Calabria. In southern Italy just below Naples. It lies in the toe of the boot of Italy. The region has recently enjoyed a recent boom in the tourist market. People are flocking to the area to enjoy Calabria’s unspoilt beauty, dynamic mountain landscapes and gorgeous beaches. If its history you’re looking for head to the towns of Amantea, Diamante and off course the regions capital Reggio di Calabria. The beach resort of Pizzo is great to, boasting an amazing beach looked over by a historical castle. Pizzo is also a good place to pick up quirky souvenirs. Definitely check out the local food shops in the region to, pick up some really tasty olive oils, vinegars, olives and wine at great value!

Visits to the many inland villages are also well advised. Wandering through these villages is like going back in time. Many on the west coast even still have heavy Greek influences.
The food in the region is absolutely to die for. Pastas and chesses are very flavoursome, with an element of spice to. Greek ingredients are also used quite a lot too. And the local tipple is white wine. Definitely try the spicy sausage and antipasto. All can be enjoyed in one of the many restaurants complete with al fresco dining and great service.
