Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy, situated in the north of the country between Milan and Venice. Holidays to Lake Garda offer stunning alpine scenery, picturesque harbours, interesting day trips, and a wide range of attractions for all the family.
There are several tourist resorts around Lake Garda, including Riva del Garda, Torbole, Sirmione, Limone sul Garda, and Gardone. Things to see on your Lake Garda holidays include the ancient town of Riva del Garda with its beautiful promenade and harbour, and Malcesine’s thirteenth century castle, where you can also take the cable car up Mount Baldo. Other popular tourist attractions include the pretty fishing port of Desenzano, and the medieval hamlet of Lazise with its ancient walls and tall towers.
Car hire is a great way to visit the area, taking a drive through the olive groves and vineyards of Bardolino, visiting pretty villages on route. Other popular day trips from Lake Garda include an outing to the Austrian Border to see the famous Dolomite mountain range, or a visit to Verona for some opera. Gardaland, Italy’s biggest theme park, is located between Peschiera and Lazise, and once you’ve worn out the children, the adults can unwind at Parco Termale del Garda's thermal spa.
