Zakopane, a town in Southern Poland – region called Malopolska, It lays in a valley between the Tetra Mountains and mountain Gubalowka Hill known as the Zakopanska Valley. The town is the county seat of the High Tatras Mountains. Zakopane is in fact the highest town in Poland – at a height of 838 metres.
This town is quickly becoming a popular tourist destination, holidays in Zakopane are mainly for mountaineering, walking and skiing. The conditions are so good that the town has hosted The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships three times.
Over time this charming town has grown from a small village of only a few inhabitants in the 17th century to a large health resort in the nineteenth century, when rail service to Zakopane began. There are numerous Spas and places to stay in the town which is why tourists are flocking to this dynamic resort, all to enjoy the stunning alpine views. Other main pull factors to the delightful this city which are well worth a visit are the Gondolas at “Kasprowy Wierch”, the Railways on “Butorowy Peak, the Springboard Great Krokiew, and even theatres and festivals, where folklore is still very much alive and is one of the main symbols of that place. Local markets are always thriving during the high season. This holiday is ideal for walkers, those that wish the venture up on the funicular and cable cars to experience those breath-taking views, to those who just want to admire the beautiful architecture of the town.
