Venice is a magnificent ancient city in northern Italy, and the capital of Italy's Veneto region. The city is based around a saltwater lagoon and is famous throughout the world for its romantic canals, picturesque bridges, and unique gondola boats. As a holiday destination, Venice offers beautiful churches and palaces, friendly people, great seafood, and a range of holiday and hotel options from budget to luxury.
Other must-see sights for your vacation in Venice include the two mile Grand Canal, or Canelazzo, and the Bridge of Sighs, immortalised in a poem by Lord Byron. A gondola or vaporetto trip is a particularly pleasant way to explore the Canal on your holiday in Venice, and you could round off your day with a meal in one of Venice's famous seafood restaurants.
Whether you're looking for a luxury hotel in Venice in an old palace, or a cheap hotel in Venice that's suitable for all the family, the city has every possible type of accommodation. Venice is warm and humid in July and August, but for a cheap holiday you might like to consider a spring or autumn break when the weather is more variable. In winter Venice can be windy and cold but if you're happy to brave the elements, there are plenty of hotel deals to be found.

"Friendly and competent service, nice, comfortable rooms, very good breakfast buffet, ideally located near vaporetto station. Our expectations were more than met. Price and value top. We hope to be able to come back some time. "

"Fantastic hotel.
Great staff - especially Marco and Katya on Reception.
Had Suite 102, amazing suite - best in the hotel. Only down side was the building of the new Spa, could be a little noisy and obtrusive! Overall an amazing stay , would definitely stay again. A good way to spend four days after travelling over Italy for the last week.

"Stunning, luxurious, special."

"What a beautiful place! After visiting three busy cities in Italy, we spent four days on Murano, and we enjoyed the peace and quiet so much we only ventured to Venice itself on one day out of the four! Our room was on the third (top) floor, with windows in the ceiling and a motorised blind - on our first night there was a thunderstorm and watching this from the comfort of our large room and huge bed was great! The walk-in waterfall shower was fab.
The breakfast was spectacular - as a vegetarian I particularly enjoyed the frittata and scrambled eggs, the yummy sweet dishes, and wide variety of fruit. The prosecco was a real treat, as was the multivitamin juice which helped us get over the previous nights' over-indulgences.
The hotel restaurant was great - Risotto was particularly good - and the wine was fantastic! Prices as you'd expect in a hotel in Venice - 20-ish Euros for main dishes, and 30ish Euros for wine. We also ate at a restaurant just a minute's walk away (I think another reviewer said it is owned by the hotel's chef!), and the food was incredible. The waterbuses are fantastic for getting to Venice and the other islands of Burano and Torchello (a population of approx. 20 people - a delightful place!), and the hotel offers complimentary transfers - we didn't use these as we are under 29 so we were able to get 3 day waterbus passes for 20 Euros each and this gave us lots of flexibility. The island is wonderfully quiet in the mornings and evenings, so if you're looking for nightlife or hustle and bustle, you'll either need to plan your activities around the waterbuses, or stay on Venice itself! But if you are happy to wander among the locals and chill out on the island, this is the perfect place to stay. "

"Venice: Vibrant, Brilliant, Mini - Break"
***** Written on: 17/08/2014
"Three nights at the O/La-Gare Hotel on the island of Murano ( yes, where the wonderful glass artistry happens)was wonderfully relaxing. The modern, stylish and luxurious hotel was an unexpected delight on this quiet island just 15minutes away across the lagoon from Venice. The staff, without exception were welcoming, polite, helpful and extremely competent. The dining experience was excellently managed and the wide range of food, delicious.
The attractive island of Murano is warm and welcoming and very well presented with no discernible litter or unwelcoming behaviour from locals( or other tourists) as can happen in other resorts.
Venice is outstanding, so many eye-catching vistas and beautiful buildings. The waterways and vessels of all types plaiting their way in a ever changing pattern of light and shadow. So much yet to investigate and experience. Three days was not nearly enough.
All the travel arrangements worked as per arrangements made with the on-line booking services through Fleetway and Ryanair.Well done to all parties, involved. What about the negatives? I've gone digital - I have none! "

"Dear Valerie
My wife and I booked our holiday to Venice with Fleetway Travel from 19th to 22nd August. We stayed at the La Gare Hotel on Murano Island. From start to finish everything went very smoothly, parking at East Midlands Airport, the flight, transfers to Venice Station, and the boat trip to Murano Island. The hotel provided complimentary drinks and snacks on arrival and a very warm welcome. Everything about the hotel was first class, the staff, accommodation, food and location. The hotel is situated on the waterfront of the Grand Canal Murano and we were provided with free speedboat transfers to and from San Marco every day, that was an experience in itself! We were also provided with free travel to the station at the end of our stay. Murano Island was the perfect location as it is peaceful whilst having plenty of shops and restaurants, and only a 15 minute boat ride into Venice. Finally, and not least, we thank you for your personal contact and help you gave us.It is so rare these days to have such service and be able to speak to someone, and for them to phone back as promised! We are recommending Fleetway to friends and family and want to do the same trip again with our family.
Kindest regards
Dave and Jayne Morris."
