A jewel of art and design surrounded by the ancient walls of a former kiln in Venice
This new hotel is surrounded by the ancient walls of a former kiln, in the heart of Venice's famous glass-making island, and overlooks Murano's Grand Canal. The 118 exclusive rooms boast elegant furnishings enhanced by Venini lighting. The hotel has an elegant restaurant with a bar, overlooking a typical Venetian courtyard.
This bright palazzo situated on the island of Murano offers guests the ultimate location and comfort. However, the prestigious La Gare has not always been a hotel. In 1351, the island was home to the church of Sant'Andrea, which became a monastery a few years later. At the end of the 19th century, the building became a furnace, giving a unique charm to the luxurious hotel which we see today.

VeniceVenice is a magnificent ancient city in northern Italy, and the capital of Italy's Veneto region. The city is based around a saltwater lagoon and is famous throughout the world for its romantic canals, picturesque bridges, and unique gondola boats. As a holiday destination, Venice offers beautiful churches and palaces, friendly people, great seafood, and a range of holiday and hotel options from budget to luxury.
Other must-see sights for your vacation in Venice include the two mile Grand Canal, or Canelazzo, and the Bridge of Sighs, immortalised in a poem by Lord Byron. A gondola or vaporetto trip is a particularly pleasant way to explore the Canal on your holiday in Venice, and you could round off your day with a meal in one of Venice's famous seafood restaurants.
Whether you're looking for a luxury hotel in Venice in an old palace, or a cheap hotel in Venice that's suitable for all the family, the city has every possible type of accommodation. Venice is warm and humid in July and August, but for a cheap holiday you might like to consider a spring or autumn break when the weather is more variable. In winter Venice can be windy and cold but if you're happy to brave the elements, there are plenty of hotel deals to be found.

"Venice- a holiday to remember - for all the best reasons
The hotel was excellent. La Gare Hotel, Murano. Set on the beautiful island of Murano this hotel was a pure delight. We had an executive room so the lounge area, bathroom and toilet (with shower, bidet, all the toiletries you could want and huge fluffy towels), wardrobe, settee, safe, mini bar and fridge were on one level (2nd floor)with an open-plan staircase leading up to the bedroom on the top (3rd) floor. Two huge tvs (1 per floor), free wi-fi, large double bed, easy chair, bedside tables, polished wood floors with beautiful rugs. The whole building was an enigma, a 5* hotel encased in what had been a glass museum (in fact the landing stage for the water buses and hotel shuffle was named Museo. There were huge windows, multiple skylights, ceilings in all comunal areas including corridors that were as high as the building (3 storeys)with all the decor in dark brown and cream with chandeliers everywhere and glass cabinets housing glass sculptures in the walk way areas. The breakfast buffet was 'one of the best in Europe' - a quote from another guest and absolutely endorsed by my friend and myself.Travel was easy. Water buses every 10 or so minutes to Venice itself or to the other islands. 1,2 or 3 day passes were economical and available from the reception desk at the airport (Marco Polo), a supermarket discretely hidden up an alleyway yards from the hotel for buying salads, snacks and plenty else!!glass makers abounded and it was free to watch demonstrations. Masks were on sale everywhere from tiny fridge magnet sized to full face ones for buying for the carnival (started 15th Feb for 10 days). [...] I'd recommend this package though to anybody. In fact the hotel was so marvellous (and I've travelled the world - often 1st or business class and stayed in many fine hotels) and the food, staff and amenities so excellent that I'm going to suggest my son and his fiancee hold their wedding reception there as there is a lovely gazebo style restaurant/venue too for such events. No-one could have been more helpful and polite than the staff from the maids to the managers. VERY WELL DONE FLEETWAY FOR GIVING US THIS DEAL!!! "

on Fleetway website:
My wife and I booked our holiday to Venice with Fleetway Travel from 19th to 22nd August. We stayed at the La Gare Hotel on Murano Island. From start to finish everything went very smoothly, parking at East Midlands Airport, the flight, transfers to Venice Station, and the boat trip to Murano Island. The hotel provided complimentary drinks and snacks on arrival and a very warm welcome. Everything about the hotel was first class, the staff, accommodation, food and location. The hotel is situated on the waterfront of the Grand Canal Murano and we were provided with free speedboat transfers to and from San Marco every day, that was an experience in itself! We were also provided with free travel to the station at the end of our stay. Murano Island was the perfect location as it is peaceful whilst having plenty of shops and restaurants, and only a 15 minute boat ride into Venice. Finally, and not least, we thank you for your personal contact and help you gave us.It is so rare these days to have such service and be able to speak to someone, and for them to phone back as promised! We are recommending Fleetway to friends and family and want to do the same trip again with our family.
Dave and Jayne Morris."

"Loved this hotel. Beautiful room and decor, great bed, large bathroom, ample closet space with actual and very useful shelves - why don't more hotels do this? Murano is a pleasant 15-20 minute vaporetto ride from all of the action but the journey is half the fun, and you go from the hotel right to St. Mark's Square so do... "

"Very stylish, relaxed atmosphere and nothing is too much trouble. We couldn't have chosen a better location either. Away from all the hustle and bustle of Central Venice but the vaparetta is right outside the main entrance so a quick hop over to the main island. I would definitely stay here again.... "
