Cheap Holiday to Marrakech

The city of Marrakech in Southern Morocco has been said to symbolise the country as a whole. As a vibrant and colourful centre for culture and entertainment, Marrakech is renowned for its wonderful climate, arts, gardens, ornate palaces, bustling souks (markets), and lively festivals. For those in search of the 'real' Morocco, this is the place to come.
Nestling at the foot of the High Atlas mountains, within ancient city walls, surrounded by look-out towers and ramparts, Marrakech comprises a densely packed maze of narrow streets and alleyways. Djemaa el-Fna Square lies at the heart of the city, and where the Berber tribespeople come to sell their wares, and storytellers, acrobats, and entertainers attract the crowds.
Browsing the numerous souks, bargaining with the traders for beautiful jewellery and hand crafted leather is a popular holiday pastime. You can find a bazaar selling virtually every imaginable product in Marrakech. Basketwork can be found at the Souk Chouan, iron and copper goods at the Souk Addadine, and leather products at Souk Smata. Visit the souks early in the morning or late in the afternoon and you could even take part in an auction as traders try to sell off their wares.
The Marrakech Museum comes highly recommended and has a good display of traditional and contemporary Moroccan art and sculpture, a small bookshop, and café. Nightlife in Marrakech centres around Djemaa el-Fna Square, where street entertainment includes fire eaters, fortune tellers, dancers, and snake charmers. This is also the place to find food stalls offering a wide choice of snacks and meals, including barbecued kebabs, boiled snails, couscous, and pigeon pie!
