City Breaks to Montpellier
Montpellier is France’s eighth largest city, this historical university town has recently been transformed into a thriving modern city. The new Corum Conference centre and Music Hall have really put Montpellier on the map. The new quarter near Place de la Comedie is one of the many reasons to take holiday to Montpellier. Place de la Comedie is bursting with bars and restaurants to suit everyone’s tastes!
There are many great museums to visit whilst on holiday in Montpellier, the Musee Fabre and the Musee de l’histoire are some of the best. The main shopping street is the rue de la Loge, enjoy an array of French boutiques here and pick up some fabulous souvenirs! Visit the 17th century Arc de Triumph and the Cevennes National Park too for great days out. The Jardin de Plantes is one of Europe’s oldest and best botanical gardens, just minutes away from the city. The stunning beaches of the Mediterranean are also within easy access – take the tramline, cheap and easy. Look out for the pink flamingos!
Wander around the historic city spotting the old churches, chateaus and the amazing buildings of The University of Montpellier. One of the oldest Universities in the world! Most of the hotels are situated in the old town too, a great location for the best sites, bars, restaurants and museums!
