Holidays to Berlin
Berlin weekend breaks allow you to take in the many cultural attractions of the city,
including avant-garde arts exhibitions, music and arts festivals, modern architecture, and a buzzing nightlife. A Berlin city break can also be taken mid-week, saving on travelling and hotel costs. You can book a last minute city break and get some really good deals, particularly if you’re flexible about when you can travel. Berlin hotels are well advertised on the internet and include luxury 5 star establishments, such as the Regent Berlin situated at the Gendarmenmarkt square in the centre of the city, and which has an excellent reputation for elegance and service. Good but less pricey hotels in Berlin are also plentiful; making cheap city breaks very achievable, particularly in low season.

Berlin Tourist Attractions
Once in Berlin, there are a great many of attractions to visit during your holiday. You could walk to the Brandenburg Gate, the only remaining true city gate, restored to its former glory since the demolition of the Berlin Wall in the early 1990s. Most of the entire stretch of the wall which used to separate West and East Berlin was levelled, but you can still see fragments at Potsdamer Platz, where an 80 metre stretch remains, and along the Spree River, which has an even longer section. A small section at Bernauer Strasse is now a memorial. You can also visit the Berlin Wall Museum and Checkpoint Charlie.
For those interested in other periods of history Berlin has many different museums, including the large Museumsinsel complex that houses three museums, the Altes Museum (Old Museum), the Alte Nationalgalerie (Old National Gallery) and the Neues Museum (New Museum). All are located on an island in the centre of the River Spree.
Shopping and nightlife are both excellent in Berlin, and the city has hundreds of restaurants and bars to choose from – you can only hope to sample a selection on a brief visit. As city breaks go, Berlin is in a class of its own.
