Pisa is located in central Italy, Western Europe. It is located within the delightful region of Tuscany. Pisa is on the banks of the Arno River, on the Ligurian Sea. The cities biggest attraction and a world wonder is the leaning tower of Pisa. This dynamic attraction is a must do when in Pisa. Don’t forget to take your camera. Make sure you visit the knights square, the impressive Palazzo della Carovana façade designed by Giorgio Vasari is an impressive sight. Adjacent is the Church of Santo Stefano dei Cavalieri, the home to over the top fascinating art work and sculptures. Wandering though the exciting streets of Pisa admiring the numerous churches is an attraction in itself. The Church of Santa Maria della Spina is also an excellent find, built in the dynamic gothic style. Its large candelabrum is said to have been the inspiration of Galileo’s theory! The town hall is also very aesthetically pleasing. A holiday in Pisa could also include many trips to museums and galleries. You are sure not to get bored. When all the cultures got to much, sit down to a large Italian style evening meal. Then party the night away at the cities numerous bars and clubs. The nightlife in Pisa is not to be missed. Italians spend time eating till quite late so the bars really kick off around midnight.
The Borgo Stretto is the best place for shopping, pick up your Italian designer wear and funky souvenirs. Strolls along the Lungarno embankment are also enjoyable – a great day to wind down after a days sightseeing.
Day trips out of the city are a brilliant opportunity to explore the rolling country side of Tuscany. Lose yourself amongst the poppies, sunflowers, olive groves and off course the grape vines. Make a trip to one of the many vineyards, take a turn in preparing the grapes and of course tasting the final product. Definitely take a visit the Tuscan Riviera for a relaxing day at the coastlines brilliant beaches.
