Zante's airport is Zakynthos International which has regular flights to Athens (only sixty minutes flying time) and Kefalonia. The bus from Athens to Zante takes just five hours, but if you prefer the ferry there are services to Brindisi, Italy, and Kilini (Kyllini) on the Greek mainland. There are no ferries from Zante to Athens but the crossing to Kilini is ninety minutes and you can then catch a bus to Athens which takes about four hours.

Beaches and Attractions on Zante

If you're looking for a beach on Zante, there are plenty of beautiful spots to choose from. Bouka Beach is fifteen minutes from the capital and close to a pretty fishing harbour, whilst Gerakas and Laganas attract nesting turtles and are part of the National Marine Park of Zakynthos. Navagio (Shipwreck Beach or Smugglers Cove) has limestone cliffs whilst Porto Roma has gently shelving sands - ideal for children and family holidays. There are also boat trips out to the shipwreck and Blue Caves in glass bottomed boats from Skinari.

Most of the nightlife on Zante centres on the tavernas of Alykes (Alikes) and on Laganas' clubs, discos, and bars. In Zante town, Solomou Square has open-air cafes and a cinema, and is surrounded by culture and history such as the Church of Saint Nikolas, the Byzantine Museum, and cultural centre of Zakynthos.
