Calgary, known as the city of contrasts, this colourful city is located in the province of Alberta. Vibrant city life and then just minute’s away western ranch lifestyles. Calgary has a continental climate, long dry winters and fairly warm summers. Januarys average temperature is about -9 degrees Celsius, July is about 16 degrees Celsius. But don’t worry the Chinook winds blow off the Pacific Ocean into the city and can raise the temperatures by up to 15 degrees! This newly modern city of sky scrapers and modern architecture is a lively mix of restaurants, bars, cultural haunts and shops. When on holiday in Calgary be sure to check out the Eau Claire Market, TD Square and The Calgary Eaton centre for great buys. 17 Avenue is definitely the best for bars and nightclubs. One of the best museums in the city is on its west side - The Heritage Park Historical Village. A created village built to the style of those in Alberta, showing life styles in the early 20th century, including a steam strain and electric car! When in downtown Calgary be sure to take in the tastes of Canada’s biggest China Town and admire the Calgary Tower and Pengrowth Saddledome. The Calgary Zoo, Telus World of Science and the Art Gallery of Calgary are also well worth a visit. The old western style is not forgotten however, have drinks in the old western style saloon bars or check out one of the many festivals. The Calgary Stampede is one of the most popular. And when those legs are tired relax on the 4th floor if the TD square in the world’s largest urban indoor green space – Devonian Gardens. But for those really relishing the outside world, the surrounding hills and plains of Calgary are waiting to be explored
