Santiago and its capital Praia is definitely the most African of all the Islands, showing a magnificent mix of culture and unique landscapes. This Island has much more variety than other islands with plenty to indulge yourself in during your holiday in Cape Verde. This Island is rich in history and known for its lively nightlife.
Hiking is very popular on this Island, with stunning views of the various mountain peaks, reflecting its volcanic origin. Whilst on the island of Santiago you must visit the old capital Cidade Velha and Fort Real de Sao Filipe, these were the slave trading points between Europe, Africa and America.
