Holidays to Calvi
Today Calvi is the second tourist area of the island and a popular beachside resort with the sparkling, turquoise waters of the Golfe de Calvi backed by the soaring, snowcapped Monte Cinto just 20km inland - just idyllically located between the sea and the mountains behind.
One can admire the look-out post Sant' Antonio, the building in the nefs three, builds at the beginning of the XVI-th century in front of the bay. On the walls of the building, frescoes represent a double crucifixion. Besides, one can visit the Church San Giovanni Battista built in the XIII-th century and reconstructed in 1592 having wiped the lightning. On the other hand, outside ramparts it is still possible to go into raptures in front of the Church Santa Maria Maggiore or the Tower of the Salt overhanging the sea.
The area has a typical Mediterranean climate, characterised by hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. The north-western part of Corsica is hotter than the southern part. Western winds prevail throughout the year.
