August 2009 - staying at 3*BOHINJ
Lake Bohinj is a beautiful, peaceful area - uncommercialised but with plenty of variety of outdoor activities. The people are delightful; alcohol is cheap (large glass of red wine 1.60 Euros); food is awful. Everyone speaks English. Hotel Bohinj is excellent value - my room was very large and light with a distant view of the lake. Everything was spotless and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Food - breakfast and dinner- was plentiful but dinner was usually mashed potato with pork, or another meat or fish, with plain vegetables. Elsewhere was the same story but nobody will starve.Overall a virtually undiscovered gem. I'll be spreading the word.
