April 2011 - staying at LE GRAND PANORAMA

One big plus point of the place is its proximity to the ski lift - literally a stone's throw away. The accommodation would've been okay if the rooms weren't heavily musty smelling and if linen and towels had been in the rooms - we arrived at 3:50pm (not too late by normal hospitality standards surely) and the front desk was already closed and so we slept on the grungy mattresses without linen. We'd asked for a room with a view of the mountain and were given a ground floor suite right next to the foyer - complete with no view, noise of other guests coming and going and glaring street lamps shining through the flimsy curtains making it difficult to sleep. Thankfully we were moved up to the second floor by the friendly concierge.
We were not supplied with any cleaning cloths and yet were expected to clean the suite. One doesn't include Mr Muscle and cloths when flying for a week long holiday nor is it an expense worth taking out. Those 'extra touches' that usually make guests feel welcome in a place were lacking. Also beware of the hidden extra costs.... However, the front desk gentleman was very friendly which went a long way to making up for it. On the whole though, we would not recommend the place and will not stay there again. St Gervais on the other hand, is a delightful village and highly recommended.
