April 2012 - staying at GRAND BAY BEACH RESORT

This is avery quiet but clean resort. The hotel is nice but could be improved vastly if they made the hotel more accessible to the beach and added some entertainment or music to the hotel. The staff are wonderful and work very hard to please you. But if I am honest I was bored after a week as there is nothing to see or do there and not much to do at the hotel apart from eat and fight for a sunbed at the pool. I would recommend for older couple and young families with babies and toddlers but not for couples or families with children.

August 2011 - staying at AQUIS VASIA BEACH

A great holiday. Resort was of a high standard, great food and friendly staff. Only disappointment was a very early transfer back to the airport. We were hours early for the gate opening, never mind the flight. This denied us extra time in the swimming pool and a leisurely dinner (the normal transfer for this holiday - I've been 5 times).

The driver of the transport coach stopped in Hersonissos and left us all for around 40 minutes with no explanation. Many passengers from differennt hotels were far too early for their flight - it wasn't just our party.

Transfer company was A2B.com and I would recommend going with someone else if this transfer company is offered. A2B seemed to be trying to save lots of money at the detriment of the final holiday experience.

October 2011 - staying at Dimitrios Village

Hotel was very clean, tidy and well looked after, staff were always available and helpful although not overly friendly/cheery (it was the end of the season). The hotel is geared totally towards German holiday makers, we were told we were the first English family to stay there! This made it difficult for the children to make friends, although the kids club organisor, Emi, actively encouraged them to join in, which they did and enjoyed. The food was good and plentiful, the all inclusive drinks were more limited than previous experiences, and coffee was only available at breakfast and for an hour and half in the afternoon! It had a great location and if there were a greater mix of nationalities there would definately go again. Be ware of visiting Crete at the end of the season as it shuts down in advance of the close of season - hotels, excursions, holiday shops etc.

September 2011 - staying at AMAZONES VILLAGE SUITES

Lovely hotel and setting. Very clean, staff really helpful. The food was disappointing. Breakfast wass buffet and was fine (quite basic, but fine) but this was half board and the evening meal is a take it or leave it choice. No menu. We ate there the first night but chose to leave it at that when we were given what looked like old fashioned school dinners. This wasn't a problem as I had got a good deal on the holiday and didn't realise it was half board till booking, had I booked for this reason I would have been extremely disappointed. Part of my holiday is eating in different places each night and there was plenty of places within a short walking distance of the hotel.

As the food was of such poor quality i felt they should just keep it to breakfast and remove the half board option, putting all their efforts into running the hotel (or get a new chef / cook!!!)

A very pretty setting which kept us fit by walking up to the hotel each day. Lovely little villages nearby. Apart from the food, I'm glad I went.

October 2011 - staying at WITCH**3*/PELA MARIA H

Shortly before departute date we were offered a change of Hotel, as the Pela Maria was closing during our holiday. We found the Gouves Park to be an outstanding Hotel, good food, friendly staff. It would have been even if the advertised ameneties had all been available and not closed in line with the end of the Creten holiday season !

October 2011 - staying at MIRABELLO BEACH IBEROS

After reading other reviews on this hotel, especialy concerning the mirabello village. I was not happy to be placed there when i booked the mirabello hotel. However, we arrived at the room and i do not know what others had complained about. It was a fantastic room with a beautiful view. I always expect in greece to downgrade the star rating by one anyway ( this has been learned by many trips to both mainland and island visits) so, to sum up this is a very good 4 star hotel. Food, plenty of choice and a good standard. staff very helpful and friendly. Cleanliness could not be faulted. We were both very pleased with all aspects of this holiday. would visit again and recommend it, but it is 4 not 5 star. as i said this is so with all greek hotels.

October 2011 - staying at MITSIS

We booked our trip through Fleetway as they were at least 10% cheaper than any other competition. With it being our first booking with them we were a little apprehensive but being ATOL and ABTA protected we decided to go for it.
My my how wrong our conceptions were, the flights and transfers went without any issues. Our first opinions of the hotel was paradise and it the people continued this. The private beach and pool were stunning and the free water sports were endless. Being all inclusive the food and drink was great and kept flowing all week long.
The only criticism of the hotel was that the “free wifi” in the reception was limited and didn’t always work, and paying 2 euro’s for 2 hours seems ridiculous in today’s society when a few bars with in a 2 min walk gave it unlimited and very fast all day long!! But that is the only negative, a great stay and would recommend to anyone!!!

October 2011 - staying at FILION SUITES RESORT

I have to question the 5* rating. The hotel was only completed in April this year and the quality of equipment isn’t going to last!
We stayed 21stOct to 27thOct 2011 and occupancy was low. It’s located on a hillside and is quite remote. Due to the surrounding mountains the sun came and went in 5 hours on a good sunny day!
Our room and en-suit was very spacious and clean and we looked out over the main pool area. The en-suite had a nice glass walk-in shower, plus a deep bath and overhead shower, although sometimes we experienced no hot water.
The layout of the 3 pool areas is very good, plus the 3 villas have their own pools. However none of these are heated, so off season are too cold to use.
Restaurant and housekeeping staff were very pleasant; however the manager/owner could take some advice on how to make guests feel welcomed and valued, and his general hospitality skills were lacking.
The food on the whole was average and sometimes not that hot. The price of drinks were typical hotel prices, €3 water and between €12 -€20 for a bottle of local wine. Although there was Happy Hour pricing being displayed on notice boards the hotel didn’t apply the discount.
The hotel runs a mini bus service to the nearest village of Bali which was good. The village has little to offer, apart from numerous car hire shops and just a couple gift/mini market shops. There is a small beach, harbour, and a hand full of bars and eateries.
A lot has been invested in the fabric and facilities of the hotel but I would be unsure if the hotel will be trading in a year’s time, with the worsening exchange rates and the current uncertainty to the Greek economic situation.
In the main if you’re looking for peace and quiet it’s possibly worth a visit, however if it’s entertainment you want look elsewhere. I’m sure the late season booking didn’t help our stay, and perhaps this hotel is at its best in peak season when you can make best use of the pools and outside bar facility.

October 2011 - staying at MITSIS SERITA BEACH 5*

Transfer from airport to hotel was quick and easy - hotel well prepared for 4.30am check-in and had provided snack in the fridge in the room. Hotel was immaculately clean throughout including the pool/pool area. Staff spoke excellent english and were extremely helpful. Range of alcoholic drinks was a little limited for a 5* hotel. Food was buffet style but fresh and well prepared although very similar eash day. Car hire arranged on site quicly and easily. Rep was disappointing, unhelpful and dis-interested but Thompson rep who was also visiting the hotel was efficient and helpful. Good range of trips available although expensive. Hotel was walking distance to local shops and 5 minute drive from local town. Pool was too cold to swim in probably due to us being there in late October at end of season. Would probably suggest going earlier in October as staffing was noticeably cut on last 24 hrs due to hotel closing for the season the day after we left.

October 2011 - staying at MITSIS SERITA BEACH 5*

Really good value for money holiday, very friendly staff, really good service. Would recommend the Mitsis Serita Beach Hotel.
