May 2012 - staying at ZANTE ROYAL RST

Zante Royal Resort [ formally Royal Palace Hotel , Vasilikos Zakynthos]

We arrived for a week at this establishment, my initial report is to ease the fears of some visitors due to attend this year,

Formally under the management of the Louis group, this complex closed in 2008, it reopened last year under the management of the Miro group with the problems associated with bringing an empty building back to life,

so. we arrived Sunday late PM, reception is bright clean and well staffed with pleasant experienced staff , after the usual booking in procedure we were taken to our rooms, both have been re-decorated and are clean and inviting, we then went for a walk around the complex there is a very nice children’s club, several very clean pools with plenty of sun beds and a bar, a taverna style restaurant where we had dinner and breakfast, food was good international [no British favourite’s burger nuggets fish fingers etc] breakfast was the usual choice of Greek, continental or English [with a Greek twist] the grounds are quite extensive and are in fair condition,

This hotel operated with a 4 star rating, and to be fair to the new management where the previous owners never updated it and the ravages of being left empty, Most of the problems come with past lack of maintenance, cracked tiles, bath plugs missing, out dated fixtures and fittings in the rooms and the like.. BUT these things are not important, clean accommodation friendly staff some cracking views and good food, make up for its short comings, other issues to be addressed are the lift and Venicular to the beach are not working at present

the hotel is quite a long way from shops and outside entertainment so if you want to get around hire a car [NOT two wheels the roads are terrible]

In conclusion for what we paid for an all inclusive family holiday this hotel has all we need
and is good value for money

October 2011 - staying at DIANA PALACE HOTEL

Lovely hotel, staff very friendly and helpful, including the entertainment staff. Food always fresh and good variety. It was the end of the season so many shops and bars were closing down for the winter and many of the trips had stopped.

October 2011 - staying at PLAZA APARTHOTEL

The plaza aparthotel met my expectations, it is basic but it is in a great location. A 5 minute walk away from the main street of clubs & restaurants. Approx 10 minute walk to the beach. I went all inclusive which was a good choice...nice food which consist of rice, spaghetti, roast potatoes, mash, chicken & more! The staff are very friendly which makes u feel welcome. If you are young & looking for a lively holiday this is the hotel for you for one reason great location! Your even near mcdonalds, kfc, subway & pizza hut. As i went in october it was out of season so unfortunately it was quiet. If you want some life june, july, or august you should head to laganas. If you go there in october dont be surprised to find most of the clubs closed. Overall hotel clean good food, great location. And the staff are great!

September 2011 - staying at MEANDROS BOUTIQUE HOTEL

Excellent service from Fleetway who sent us to a lovely little Greek hotel on the charming island of Skiathos.
Try to get an upstairs room, but no need for a suite as the standard rooms are fine. Breakfast nice, dinner a tad boring. Choice of music in the pool bar dead iffy, but this only serves to drive you out to some very nice local tavernas, the best of which was Tabiya, about 30 yards right of the front gate.
Hire a quad bike across the road for 20 euros a day and chug off to explore the island. Our best day out was to the gorgeous Keri Beach, which still maintains a veneer of Greekness.
Kalamaki is absolutely nothing to write home about, but you can watch footy every night and get squiffy for a few quid.
As usual the Greek people were what makes any of the islands a great place to visit. They are having a very hard time at present but always make great hosts. We will continue to make the islands our first choice destination.

September 2011 - staying at MEANDROS BOUTIQUE

Have just spent ten days at the Meandros in Kalamki - it was a lovely hotel; very spacious. We had a suite as there were there of us and it was huge! Could not fault any of the staff; from the cleaners to the receptionists, bar staff and waiters - all of them were friendly, courtious, helpful. We were on half board basis and the food was excellant. Plenty of choice. The pool was nice and clean with plenty of beds. The town of Kalamaki is very quiet; a few restaurants and bars on the way to the beach. If you are looking for a lively holiday then one of the other resorts would be better but for us it was perfect. The beach is lovely with crystal clear water; no watersports as a nesting ground for the turtles but that didn't bother us. Our holiday was relaxing and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I would recommned this hotel and resort for anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday.

September 2011 - staying at MARIA STUDIOS

a super hol great apt at the maria studios, so friendly, thank you for booking us in for the sun night at end of hol with a 4am pick up it was invaluable, lots of others had to pay 25 euros to keep their room on. loved the resort too will def be going back

September 2011 - staying at PLESSAS PALACE

We had one of our best holidays so far. Plessas Palace is just fantastic as was the island. Only slight thing was that our names were not down for the transfers. No major hassels as when we arrived we were put straight into a taxi. On way back to airport they had totally different dates for us - still was all sorted out really quickly.

September 2011 - staying at FILOXENIA HOTEL

Filoxenia Hotel, Tsilivi is nicely situated near olive groves, outside of the centre of the town. Hotel is very comfortable, clean, friendly, the all inclusive restaurant is small, always found a table, choice is small but the food is home cooked and very tasty. My daughter who doesn't eat meat really enjoyed the choices. There is a mini bus that takes you to and from the beach. To walk to the beach is about 25 mins if you are fit. Bed linen changed three times in the week and towels every two days. I believe they will be supplying pool towels next year. Would recommend this hotel.

August 2011 - staying at THE BAY HOTEL

The five of us (28-74) had a great time at this hotel. The rooms are spacious and everything worked. Nice staff. Good food, there was always plenty of fresh vegetables/salads/fruits and even the fussiest in our group was pleased with the selection. The beach however, was somewhat small, and the sand wasn't cleaned enough (cigarettebutts). I can definitely recommend The Bay for honeymooners, couples, families with small children and even the elderly, too! Unless you plan to spend all your time on the beach or by the pool, you will have to hire a car - the resort is quite remote (and Vassilikos is quiet) but, the nearest big resort (Argassi) is just a 10 minute drive away.

August 2011 - staying at DIANA PALACE HOTEL

Good hotel with fantastic staff, who really made the holiday special. Would recommend the hotel and resort - enough life to be interesting without being too rowdy. No problems with Thomson flights.
