Information about Costa del Sol

With its unique microclimate, beautiful beaches, and all year-round sunshine, the Costa del Sol is the world Mecca for holidaymakers. Sparkling blue waters glisten in the sun as boats and yachts pull out of the many marinas dotted across this expansive coastal region. From Malaga province in the east, to the cusp of Cadiz province in the west, the Costa del Sol, which literally means, "sunny coast," is southern Spain's unique autonomous community. Its white-washed villages have become a delightful attraction for those looking for a flavour of authentic Andalucian life, while popular coastal towns such as Marbella and Puerto Banus, have become extremely popular destinations for great entertainment. Formerly comprised of fishing villages, mass tourism has transformed the Costa del Sol into a top tourist destination, with the typical Costa del Sol beach party providing a pulsating nightlife, plenty of water sports during the day, and fantastic beaches to bask in the sun. An ideal destination for a last minute holiday.

Tourist Attractions in Coast del Sol

Malaga is a city alive with the buzz of life. With Malaga University a second home to thousands of young people, it's also a place full of students. An eclectic scene of art, music, theatre, and culture gives Malaga the cutting edge setting it apart from popular tourist destinations such as Marbella. Malaga is also home to the region's most celebrated artist - the Picasso Museum is a must-see. Other tourist attractions include Marbella and Puerto Banus. Banus boasts the highest concentration of luxury cars per capita in the world. Million-dollar yachts line the Puerto Banus marina, just a stone's throw from the lively bars, clubs, designer shops and boutiques - a haven for the fashion conscious. Estepona's safari park, Selwo Park, makes a great day out for families with children. Many tourists in the Costa del Sol wish to venture out and see more of the surrounding area. It's easy to hire a car and visit nearby towns and villages, or get a bus to Tarifa for a couple of days camping, or alternatively head off to Granada to see the opulent Moorish Alhambra Palace. Ronda is a splendid 18th century town situated on a towering plateau in the mountains, some thirty miles inland from Marbella. El Tajo, a nearby gorge, provides a dramatic viewpoint for visitors. Spectacular scenery also includes the El parador walkway along the river with its views out over the countryside.
