Cheap Holidays to Granada

Granada, located in the Andalucía Region of Spain. A well known city, and the capital of the Granada province. Located at the bottom of the Sierra Nevada mountains where three rivers join – Beiro, Darro and Genil. The perfect holiday for historical insight yet relaxing and luxurious.

This sun drenched city in the summer of over 40 degrees celcius couldn’t be different to its below freezing winters. This modern city steeped in history and stunning architecture is such a vibrant, lovable place. First inhabited in prehistoric times, known as Iibyr, later colonised by the Romans and known as Illibris. The Arabs then later named in Granada. It then fell into Christian hands in 1492. A cheap holiday to this very Moorish city is well worth it for history lovers and fun seekers alike.

The biggest tourist attraction of Granada is The Alhambra. The red castle. This array of palaces and gardens is a top example of the Spanish architecture during the Renaissance times. After your tour of the Alhambra be sure to visit the Museo de la Alhambra. This museum is full of 13th, 14th and 15th century clothes, pottery, instruments, money and many more items from these times gone by! Whilst walking around the rest of the city be sure to admire the cathedral, churches and the Monastery of La Cartuja. On the opposite hill to the Alhambra lies the medina, a wonderful maze of tiny streets and traditional Spanish white washed houses. This Morrish city can be seen best from The Plaza de San Nicolas – the highest point of the medina! Picking up traditional bargains in the medina is a definite must for those holiday souvenirs! You can also visit the old bath house, El Banuelo – used by the old Moorish community before Prayer and probably the Romans too. When the sun gets the better of you – Parque Acuatico Aquaola is Granada’s waterpark, a fantastic day out! On your holiday in Granada you have the chance to take guided tours around the city, there is so much not to be missed. Eating out is a huge past time in Granada so expect lots of choice in bars and restaurants. Tapas is very popular in Granada. Calle Pedro Antonio de Alarcón is where you will find the nightlife, this bar lined street open till the early hours is sure to keep you happy.

Venturing away from the city to the famous Costa Del Sol – the sunshine coast is easy and a great day out. Lavish is the restaurants, bars, nightclubs and shops of Marbella, Benalmadena and Torrmolinos. From your holiday in Granada you can travel here by bus, train and taxi.
With such a quick turnaround of guests there is always somewhere to stay in Granada, it’s a great idea for last minute deals. For cheap holidays and more there is a wealth of places to stay from camp sites, youth hostels, family run hotels and top hotels. The best place to stay is in the San Francisco Parador, actually in The Alhambra!
