Ibiza Island

Ibiza is a world unto its own, a tropical paradise of glittering emerald seas, renowned for its nightlife, yet still boasting an incredible unspoilt landscape. Ibiza beaches are endless and sandy-white, lining the shores where people from all walks of life relax, unwind, and enjoy the sea breeze, warm sun, and sparkling oasis that surrounds them. Ibiza's historical spirit is very much in evidence within the island today, right down to its name, developed through the ages after Phoenician settlers named their settlement Ibosim in 650 BC, in homage, appropriately enough, to their God of dance.

Clubbing Ibiza

There is no denying the fact that Ibiza, Spain is automatically associated with clubbing and a huge party nightlife. Ibiza lies in the sunny location of the Mediterranean Sea, at just 80km off the coast of Spain. The party island is the third largest of the Balearic Islands group. The capital of the island, together with neighbouring island Formentera is Ibiza Town. Other well known towns are San Antonio and Santa Eulalia. The official language of the island is Spanish, the Catalan dialect is mostly used. English is also widely heard as well as other European languages due to the large number of ex-patriots living on the island as well as the many, many tourists. Brits have been visiting the island for decades, many of the main beach towns have a very British feel about them to, but don't fret if you really want to get away from it all heading inland it's easy to find to old Spanish communities and bustling villages. Loved by everyone, the island of Ibiza really does have two faces, famed for its wild clubbing scene yet loved by families and older couples for its friendly, tranquil environment.

Holiday makers flock to Ibiza year after year, heading to the most famous party scene in the world. San Antonio is the main party town, with its more than fair share of hip bars, discos and pubs. Separated only by the mega clubs and the vast array of budget accommodation. Every music genre can be heard and every clubber is happy! The most famous clubs of the area are Eden and the famous water party club Es Paradis! This manic mix of amazing nightlife carries on right through the night with the sounds of world famous DJs around every corner. The beaches in the area are quite small however but there is always something going on. Heading over to San Antonio Bay for the day time is a great option - calm waters and soft sandy beaches, parties, water sports and fun in the sun are always in full swing! The Capital of the island - Ibiza Town is also well known for its mega clubs! Space, Pacha, Cream and Amnesia all lie just minutes outside the city! Ibiza Town is also a great choice for those after some peaceful sightseeing and market shopping to. Hand made Jewellery and hippie clothes are always great finds. The old town is one of the most enchanting places on the whole island, cobbled streets lined with rustic old buildings, check out the Cathedral if a return to culture is just what you need. The water park is also located in the capital and makes for a great day out for adults and children alike!

Ibiza has always been a firm favourite amongst families to. The soulful countryside, fishing villages and the less lively resort towns make for great family holidays. Santa Eulalia is the most popular place for families, with a more local feel, this upmarket town is the home to many hotels and apartments. As well as beautiful beaches and plenty to do. With the Marina a bustling haven of top restaurants, bars and a nightclub to, big cats need not miss out on the party island! Es Cana is a neighbouring town, with a slightly more hippie feel, this relaxed town is fun and quirky. Enjoying a laid back environment of beautiful beaches, markets and tasty restaurants. Portinatx at the top of the island is also family orientated and blessed with being the prettiest town on the island! Enjoying endless amounts of water sports, shops, bars, restaurants and of course sunshine! Restaurants catering to children or fussy eaters are two a penny in Ibiza. Menus from all nations can also be found along with the world famous fast food chains. Traditional foods that have got to be had are tortillas, paellas and off course fish freshly caught from the seas. Very nicely washed down by the islands own tipple - world famous San Miguel. Day trips over to Formentera from Ibiza town are a must; Ibiza's neighbour is the home to some of the best beaches in the world, unbeatable snorkelling and absolute pace and quiet.
