Discover a memorable
restaurant among the maze-like streets of Marmaris and sail
serenely towards Dalyan's sands. Whether you want sun drenched
days on stunning beaches, lively evenings or the natural beauty
of pine-clad hillsides, you can find it all here.
Marmaris is perhaps the most European of all the Turkish resorts,
although a venture into the Old Quarter soon reveals a very
traditional Turkish atmosphere. Old men sit in the shade playing
backgammon just yards from the more sophisticated bars on the
seafront. On one side of the Old Quarter is Netsel Marina, home
to smart quayside restaurants, an open-air amphitheatre cinema,
and a marina. On its other side is the newer district where
many of our featured properties are located. Marmaris is lively
and bustles into the small hours with bars and discos. In contrast,
the Datca Peninsula is a peaceful, tranquil bay surrounded by
mountains and forests. If you crave excitement, there's a regular
bus to Marmaris, 20km away.
A fascinating cocktail of market town, port and holiday resort
which has retained its Turkish character, both scenically and
atmospherically, Fethiye is certainly a captivating place. The
arrival of tourism has had little impact on the town itself:
the harbour is bordered by a palm-lined promenade where the
locals take advantage of the shade and discuss the events of
the day. This almost enclosed inlet and natural harbour protected
by twelve islands provides a safe haven for the many fishing
boats, yachts and water taxis. Behind the harbour, a maze of
back streets is filled with shops, bars and restaurants yielding
many a bargain, gastronomic delights and bustling evening life.
