Starting at the iconic, manmade reservoir Parakrama Samudra, you’ll be able to spot four colossal Buddha statues at the Rock Temple. Moving on, you’ll wander through palace ruins and intricate carvings before arriving back at the hotel in the evening. Should you wish to explore the site by bike, this can be arranged by your guide.

Here, you’ll embark on a city tour of places like the Sacred Temple of the Tooth, Kandy Lake, the scenic Victoria Golf Club, before moving onto Peradeniya and taking in the Royal Botanical Gardens. After this, you’ll continue onto Marawila and check-in to Club Palm Bay.

Day 7 (Marawila) – A well-earned day of leisure is yours at the Club Palm Bay.

Day 8 (Marawila – Wilpattu – Marawila) – An early morning departure will take you on a drive to Wilpattu National Park with a packed breakfast and lunch. One of the largest national parks in the country, you’ll see lots of small lakes, dense forests, and if you’re fortunate, spot some sloth bears feasting on berries. In addition, to owls, eagles, storks and a host of other exotic birds, you may even spot leopards and crocodiles too if lady luck is on your side. You’ll return to the hotel for dinner.

Day 9 (Marawila) – After breakfast, you’ll visit a local temple and then take in a local Batik factory, before learning the process of this traditional cloth-dying.  With the process down, you’ll then be guided as you begin work on your own batik – creating a one-in-a-kind souvenir.

Travel Opinions

  • Sigiriya Village Hotel - A quiet spot in the jungle

We stayed as part of a tour group and found the hotel very comfortable and met our needs admirably. Staff were efficient and rooms were kept extremely well. Our tour guide did say we were in recently refurbished rooms which were a generous size. The view of Lion Rock from the pool and dining area was magic. Food was buffet service with a wide range to cater for all tastes. Bathroom amenities and safe were appreciated. House keeping staff kept us amused with their turn down service. It was a great location to stay for four nights allowing day trips to be undertaken easily. Within the grounds we saw plenty of monkeys and beautiful birds.

  • Club Palm Bay Hotel - Exceptional hotel

We have been to Sri Lanka at least a dozen times and this is by far the best hotel we have stayed at. The resort is absolutely beautiful, chalet type rooms around a scenic lagoon, and stunning garden areas. The accommodation is extremely spacious, clean and well maintained. The food is tasty, plentiful and varied. We were there for three weeks, all inclusive, and always found something delicious to eat. The sports facilities are far superior to any other resort we have ever been to. There's tennis, badminton, squash, table-tennis, snooker, pool, table-football, cycles, boules, and darts, all free of charge. Another reason this delightful resort gets top marks, is the staff. They are friendly, helpful and always smiling, an absolute joy to meet. I would recommend this resort to anyone thinking of visiting Sri Lanka, in fact we liked it so much, we are going back again in September.

Don't just take our word for it...
