The UAE is home to a few mega-cities in the form of Dubai and Abu Dhabi – each of which offer their own unique charms. In Dubai, stroll along the JBR Walk, brave the heights of the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa, where, on the 124th floor, you can gaze across the rest of the UAE from the viewing platform. Head to one of the many boutiques and restaurants that dot the stunning coastline, picking up luxury goods or sampling a great meal. Similarly, Abu Dhabi has an impressive skyline, as well as a fascinating mixture of architecture, 10 kilometres of beaches, and 400 kilometres of national parks.

Shopping in the UAE

Shopping is a popular pastime in the UAE and there are several shopping centres and malls perfect to indulge in some retail therapy. The luxurious Mall of the Emirates is a great place to start with plenty of designer options including Louboutin, Prada, and more. Alternatively, if you suddenly find yourself wanting to go skiing, there’s even the Ski Dubai Centre found here. The world’s largest shopping destination is Dubai Mall at over 12 million square feet! Part of downtown Dubai, it has countless restaurants, an ice rink, cinema, and even an aquarium and zoo.

For those seeking more traditional experiences, seek out some of the many colourful and fragrant souks that are located in the centre, where none are more sparkling than the stunning Gold Souk.

Things to do in the UAE

A traditional pastime that should be on the list of things to do while holidaying here, is a day at the camel races. The oldest sport in the UAE, the passion of the locals for this entertaining sports is almost as entertaining as the races themselves. A similar, but more modern, pastime is the F1 Grand Prix held in Abu Dhabi each year – a thrilling spectacle, it’s more than worth a visit. Additionally, if you’re visiting outside of race time, you can visit Ferrari World Abu Dhabi for you fix of high-octane racing.
